Offered for sale is this early example painted around the mid 19th Century , a fine copy on canvas titled "the cornfield" after john constable’s original work completed in 1826.

The painting is finely detailed and rich and vibrant in colour and depicts a young boy stopping and lying down for a drink of water from a small stream.

The scene is painted along a country lane which leads to a church in the distance.

Excellent quality large scale work set within a very ornate original gilt frame.

A collectable landscape painting completed around the mid 19th century by a very talented copiest.

The original was finished in 1826 and first exhibited at the Royal Academy that same year.
and measured 143 x 122 cm and is at present hanging in the National Gallery, London.

Constable used to refer to the painting as The Drinking Boy.
