Louisa Ulrika of Prussia was born on 24 July 1720 as the daughter of Frederick William I of Prussia and his wife Sophia Dorothea of Hanover. She was their tenth child. At the age of three, she was put in the care of a French governess by the name of Mademoiselle de Jeaucourt with her sister Sophie. Her interests were literature, science, architecture, music, politics and fashion.
